City of Lodi asks public for input on new park’s name

On December 2, 2020, the City of Lodi posted a news alert asking citizens for input and nomination for the naming of a new park. The new park will be located in the Gateway North Subdivision, which is being constructed south of Kettleman Lane and west of Lower Sacramento, and is set to open by Spring 2021.

The plan outlines a 1.96 acre high ground park with the following amenities: playground, picnic shelter, park sign, turf, trees, flower beds, irrigation, irrigation booster pump, interior concrete walkways, park perimeter concrete walkways, drinking fountain, park benches, picnic tables, barbecue, trash receptacles, bike rack, interior park lighting, stone veneer masonry work, utility enclosure, and underground utilities.

The City Council previously adopted policy and procedure guidelines for naming and renaming parks, which means nominations must follow the listed requirements:

The deadline to submit a nomination is January 15, 2021. Written nominations can be emailed to: prdept@lodi.gov; or send a letter to:
Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services
Attn: Gateway North Park Naming
230 W. Elm Street
Lodi, CA 95240

Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission will review the proposed names at the February 2021 meeting before making recommendations to the City Council.
