The City of Lodi released a short video and statement regarding the arrest of City Council Member Shakir Khan.
Earlier today, Lodi City Council Member Shak Khan was arrested on voter fraud charges without bail. Lodi Mayor Mikey Hothi visited Shakir Khan at the San Joaquin County Jail this afternoon to ask for his resignation. We are told Mr. Khan agreed to his own resignation effective immediately.

The City of Lodi’s Facebook page also released a short statement on the news:
These charges stem from actions he took while a candidate during the 2020 election.
The City is fully cooperating in the Sheriff’s investigation.

The City takes challenges to electoral integrity seriously and is consulting with legal counsel to determine our next steps. According to Jeremiah Martinez of Fox 40 News, the lawyer for Shakir Khan, Allen Sawyer, stated the resignation was premature. It would appear Mr. Khan will choose not to resign from the Lodi City Council.
