The United States Department of Defense is sending a medical team to support Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Hospital and Dameron Hospital in Stockton as COVID-19 cases rise and ICU capacity exceeds the licensed amount.
The 39 member medical staff will consist of two doctors, two physician assistants, seven respiratory therapists, and twenty-four registered nurses and support staff, Hope Miller wrote in a KCRA3 article, “DOD sending medical team to help San Joaquin County hospitals amid COVID-19 surge.” They are expected to arrive Tuesday, December 29th for orientation.
Earlier this year, twenty members from the US Air Force medical team from Travis were sent to assist Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Hospital as COVID cases spiked and space was limited. The team assisted the hospital from July 22 – September 11, 2020.

The mandatory stay-at-home orders were set to expire on December 28th, but with ICU capacity at its current state, Governor Newsom said the stay-at-home orders will remain in effect in San Joaquin valley. Four-week ICU projections will be announced later today.
